Job Title: Senior Director Business Development

Location: Bay Area, California (Remote with travel as needed)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Reports To: CCO

Position Summary:

A leading drug discovery services provider is seeking a Senior Director of Business Development to drive new business growth across the West Coast, with a primary focus on the Bay Area biotech and pharmaceutical markets. This is a high-impact, individual contributor role responsible for identifying, developing, and closing new client relationships in the small molecule drug discovery space.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify and pursue new business opportunities with biotech and pharma companies across the West Coast, with an emphasis on the Bay Area.
• Promote the company’s integrated drug discovery and chemistry services to potential clients.
• Develop and execute strategic sales plans to meet or exceed revenue goals.
• Build and manage a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities from prospecting through contract execution.
• Partner with scientific and operational teams to tailor solutions to prospective client needs.
• Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events.
• Provide market insights and feedback to help shape service offerings and commercial strategies.
• Maintain accurate records of activities and opportunities in CRM systems.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, or related scientific field (advanced degree preferred).
• 5+ years of experience in business development or service sales in the drug discovery CRO industry.
• Deep understanding of small molecule drug discovery, particularly in early-stage chemistry services.
• Established network within West Coast biotech/pharma, particularly in the Bay Area.
• Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets in a scientific services environment.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated and goal-oriented with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, remote, and autonomous role.
