Position and Responsibilities The Austin Office is looking for an Attorney to act as the Firm’s Chief Compliance Officer , to manage debt collection regulatory compliance nationwide. The responsibilities of the position would include: Monitor legislative matters, case law and regulatory updates to ensure the Firm’s compliance with all debt collection rules and regulations Oversee the implementation of new federal, state and local regulatory requirements Review and analyze debt collection written correspondence submitted to the Firm’s Litigation and Legal Standards Committee for approval Review and revise as needed the Firm’s Fees & Fines Division Policies and Procedures, reporting to the Firm’s Management Committee when appropriate Review all collection materials, phone scripts, notices and procedures for compliance Participate in implementation when integrating or upgrading technology for contacting debtors (letters, calls, text and email) Track, investigate and respond to regulatory and BBB complaints Identify, analyze and report on any complaint trends that need to be addressed Conduct regular compliance meetings, including maintaining the agenda and tracking progress on issue resolutions Assist with clients located in states where the attorney is licensed; duties to include day-to-day oversight, complaint response and performance analysis Qualifications JD from an ABA approved school Must be licensed and in good standing with the State Bar Minimum 10 years of experience in debt collection space Thorough understanding of FDCPA and CFPB’s Regulation F, as well as other federal, state and local collection-related laws and regulations Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook Ability to think and act independently and with minimal supervision Ability to engage with clients and local associations beneficial to Firm and client interests Ability to critically analyze statutory, regulatory and caselaw developments, and advise on their effects on operational processes and compliance requirements Outstanding listening, verbal, and written communication skills Spanish-speaking a plus Annual review and bonus potential A variety of healthcare plans (some at no cost) 401K No billable hours Flexible vacation policy Internal education and leadership opportunities Charitable giving programs Numerous social and off-site events each year to enrich your relationships with your clients and colleagues Additional Information Job Type: Full-time Schedule: 8-hour shift, Monday to Friday Work Location: Austin, TX 78746, or one of our other offices nationwide. #J-18808-Ljbffr Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP
