Summary

Maverick is seeking a Utility Pole Restorer (“UPR”) to support our expansion into the Cincinnati area. This position is responsible for assisting in the restoration, repair, and maintenance of wooden utility poles. This includes reinforcing pole structures, applying preservative treatments, performing ground line excavation, and ensuring safe work practices in various outdoor environments. The role is physically demanding and requires attention to safety, detail, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize hand tools to excavate soil and backfill ground material around structure.
  • Assist Foreman with maintaining an adequate inventory of equipment and supplies, and maintaining vehicles and work areas in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.
  • Apply wood preservative and/or coating to ground line area of structure.
  • Perform structural reinforcement or restoration tasks as directed.
  • Operate in a safe and efficient manner, utilizing all required safety equipment (e.g., hard hat, safety vest, work boots) and following established safe work practices and procedures.
  • Walking pole lines to install trusses and treat poles as needed.
  • Follow proper safety protocol and maintain safe work environment.
  • Achieve expected safety, quality, and production goals.
  • Maintain all tools, vehicles, and equipment.
  • All other tasks as assigned by management.

  • Must enjoy working outdoors in a fast-paced, high-growth, and rapidly changing work environment.
  • Highly flexible in daily duties and level of responsibility.
  • Must be reliable and punctual, showing up to work on time and consistently performing assigned tasks.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel to field sites on a rotation schedule, up to three weeks at a time.
  • Prior training in wood pole inspection a plus.
  • Able to carry equipment (e.g., hand tools, tarps) and supplies (e.g., paper, preservatives, coatings) to structure being serviced up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in different weather conditions such as rain, heat, and cold.
  • Able to lift and pull up to 40lbs.
  • Understanding of basic safety elements like PPE and First Aid.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug & alcohol and background check.
