  • 2025 Hiring Range: $30.47 – $33.85/hour
  • 2026 Hiring Range: $30.65 – $34.06/hour

Position Summary: 

Under general supervision, the Outreach Victim Advocate provides on-scene crisis intervention, advocacy, and assistance to victims, witnesses, and survivors of crimes in the City of Longmont.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct initial and follow-up contact with victims, witnesses, and family members.
  • Provide emotional support, crisis intervention, and assistance in coping with traumatic events.
  • Review and interpret police reports; make referrals to community-based resources.
  • Provide emergency safety planning and address immediate safety needs.
  • Serve as a liaison between victims, law enforcement, prosecutors, courts, and service agencies.
  • Explain victim rights, offer case updates, and coordinate support during meetings or proceedings.
  • Assist with victim compensation, restitution, financial assistance applications, and related remedies.
  • Maintain case and statistical data for reporting; prepare case documentation.
  • Compile and maintain community resource lists and information packets.
  • Train and guide volunteer victim advocates in policies, procedures, and safety.
  • Support volunteers with caseloads as needed.
  • Represent Longmont Public Safety on committees and task forces (e.g., domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking).
  • Participate in a rotating weekend schedule.
  • Performs all duties in alignment with City values and service attributes.

Working Environment: 

  • Primarily office-based within the Police Department
  • Includes responding to on-scene callouts for crisis intervention
  • Requires effective oral and written communication
  • Frequent interaction with victims, officers, community partners, and service providers
  • Must manage multiple tasks, maintain confidentiality, and work irregular hours
  • Light physical activity (walking, sitting, standing, lifting up to 15 lbs)
  • Requires safe operation of a vehicle

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human-services-related field (required)
  • Two years of victim advocacy experience (preferred)
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License with a good driving record
