The California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) seeks an Information Technology Specialist II in the Enterprise Solutions Development Division (ESDD), Software Engineering Support Services Section, Database Services Unit. The Information Technology Specialist II works as a technical specialist supporting CalPERS complex Oracle databases.

Under general direction of the Information Technology Manager I, the incumbent serves as a recognized senior technical specialist responsible for creation and maintenance of databases after development, including but not limited to Testing, Staging, Training, Pre-Production and Production. This position may also act as a team lead on medium to large complex Oracle database projects within this scope and serve as a database technical specialist to the enterprise among other duties.

Telework Information: This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with up to two days of remote work and three days or more onsite, per week.

Statement of Qualifications

  • Ability to collaborate closely with customers and technical SMEs to understand and identify business and technical requirements.
  • Ability to ensure database systems are secure and meet compliance requirements.
  • Ability to advise, create, or participate in the design of new system architecture, standards, and methods to support organizational needs.
  • Experience with Oracle Database Software, Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN), Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), and Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance.
  • Experience with performance tuning and advanced troubleshooting of Oracle Databases.
