Job Description

Pay Transparency $25 - $45/Hour (DOE; Base Rate of Pay + Piece Rate for Personal Training and Health Coaching Services Delivered) Role and Responsibilities The Health Coach is responsible for carrying out Active Wellness’s commitment to serve members with full commitment and attention as healers, and to deliver on Active Wellness’s commitment to build healthy communities through our core values of authenticity, teamwork, innovation, versatility, and excellence. The Health Coach will work with a team, including medical providers, to plan the best course of action to help patients achieve their health goals and will be the primary point of contact for members throughout their experience in the Activate Program. Specific Responsibilities Act as the primary point of contact for sharing member information and progress with physicians and other medical staff. Facilitate sessions with clients in person, via phone, and through email. Help patients onboard applicable health technology (both software and hardware). Identify behavior and habit changes to help patients transform their lives. Provide motivation, guidance, support, and encouragement. Work one-on-one with clients to establish a personalized wellness plan to improve health metrics. Identify short- and long-term exercise, nutrition, and weight management goals. Assist clients in making behavior changes and provide ongoing follow‑up. Track improvements in health behaviors and biometric measurements using provided technology platforms. Facilitate educational workshops, presentations, screenings, events, and health campaigns. Comfortable presenting in front of groups of people. Able to motivate individuals toward making health improvements. Evaluate new or existing programs and make specific recommendations based on the member’s needs, interests, and demographics. Maintain communication and relationships with leaders and other health care providers in the community. Adhere to all Active Wellness and client policies and procedures. Attend applicable staff meetings and training. Provide general technical support for digital health technology used by the facility. Administer emergency care to members and guests in need of assistance. Work as a TEAM with all other departments. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor. Other Functions Display superior customer service and communication skills and maintain professional interactions with customers and associates. Become an expert in wearable products, features, and capabilities. Efficiently answer and solve customer technical inquiries regarding product and service disruptions and troubleshoot issues via telephone, email, and chat. Identify, diagnose, and report product defects utilizing internal tools. Remain current on changes in policies, procedures, and product offerings. Be knowledgeable about all programs and activities offered by Active Wellness. Promote club services and activities. Assist with keeping the club well stocked and clean. Attend Active Wellness site meetings and trainings. Handle injury and illness and security incident reporting. Qualifications Degree in Health Promotion, Nutrition, Exercise Science, or similar field education preferred. Wellness/Health Promotion Certifications (ACE Health Coach, Wellcoaches, or other health coach certification). 2‑3 years of experience delivering nutrition, fitness, and/or coaching programs to individuals and groups in health and fitness settings. Experience working collaboratively with allied health care to support individual patient goals and outcomes. Working knowledge of health, nutrition, fitness, personal development, and habit change facilitation. Knowledge of health‑related diseases and illnesses and typical medical treatments used to address them. Experience utilizing technology to support program tracking and participant engagement. Demonstrated ability to provide expert customer service across all contact channels (chat, phone, email). Passion for helping others improve their health and wellness. Detail‑oriented, organized, highly responsive, and committed to customer service. Strong verbal communication skills. Basic computer skills, customer service skills, results‑oriented, ability to multitask, and commitment to the fitness industry. AED/CPR/First Aid Certified. Proof of citizenship or legal status. Physical and Working Conditions Ability to stand for several hours in a shift, physical agility, and ability to lift 25 lbs. Responsibility for the health and safety of others. Fitness club environment. Must follow OSHA and Active Wellness safety standards. This job description is intended to describe the general requirements for the position.
