About the Role
The Company is in search of a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead its global conservation efforts with a focus on wildlife and science. The successful candidate will be a seasoned, mission-driven executive with a strategic vision that aligns with the organization's goals. Key responsibilities for the CEO include strategic leadership, executive management, external engagement, philanthropy, and board relations. The CEO will also be tasked with ensuring exceptional guest experiences, upholding the organization's reputation, and balancing its dual identity as a global conservation leader and a premier public attraction. Applicants for the CEO position at the company should have a minimum of 15 years' of senior executive experience in mission-driven, guest-focused organizations, preferably with oversight of complex, multi-site operations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in fundraising, strategic planning, and modernizing systems for operational excellence. Strong financial and business acumen, as well as the ability to lead through change and foster inclusive, purpose-driven cultures, are essential. The role requires a skilled communicator with a compelling public presence, capable of engaging with diverse stakeholders and leading a high-performing executive team. While not mandatory, familiarity with the San Diego region and the ability to build local relationships is preferred.
