Qualifications : Candidates should possess a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related discipline; ABD candidates are invited to apply. We seek candidates with previous experience teaching undergraduates in the designated courses, and who have a strong commitment to engaging students both in and out of the classroom. Qualified applicants will demonstrate their ability to teach courses, advise department majors, mentor undergraduate students, and contribute to an academic environment that fosters learning and growth for all its stakeholders.
Position Summary : The Department of Health and Exercise Science at Wake Forest University invites applicants for a full-time non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor/Professor of Practice position to begin July 1, 2026. The successful candidate will teach a variety of Health and Exercise Science courses including human physiology, exercise physiology, and assessment techniques in health and exercise science, along with the laboratories that accompany these classes. We seek an individual with a commitment to excellence in teaching and a desire to mentor students. The successful candidate will: (1) have a teaching load equivalent to six 3 credit courses each year; (2) serve the department through academic advising and mentoring of undergraduate students; and, 3) participate in departmental, college, and university service. Skillful teaching is a key responsibility. Depending on the candidates expertise, other teaching opportunities may be available at the undergraduate level. Teaching Professor/Professor of Practice faculty at Wake Forest are eligible for all the same professional rights and resources afforded tenure-track faculty, such as professional development support, departmental and college travel funds, and course release. This position is eligible for renewal and promotion with progressively longer-term contracts.
